The Village of Maywood is situated approximately ten miles west of the Loop. The Congress Expressway (I-90) provides access to the Loop and western suburbs. Maywood is considered a bedroom community of the City of Chicago. Business and industry is overshadowed by the abundant housing stock in the village. Largely a low to medium density location, there are several apartment buildings situated along major thoroughfares in the town. Mass transportation is available via the RTA bus service and the METRA commuter rail service.
